Please join us for the 7th Annual Earth Day Community Clean up event, scheduled for Saturday April 26th from 8:30am – noon, meeting at the Sports Arena parking located at 1640 Outer Hammond Street in Hermon. Registration starts at 8:30am with a kick off at 9am.

It is an opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in our community by cleaning up litter in our local neighborhoods, parks and roadways.  Past events have been very successful with groups of over 60 people collecting over 100 bags in Hermon alone! With more people, we can extend out to other parts of town.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Gloves, bags, safety vests, coffee, donuts and water will be provided. Free t-shirts will also be provided to volunteers from the Bangor Area Storm Water Group. The event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. As always, trucks and trailers are needed to help assist with the pick up and transport of large items and trash bags to the town’s dumpster after the event.

Sponsorships and donations are always welcomed to assist with the funding of gloves, bags, safety vests, water, t-shirts, snacks, advertising and other promotional materials. In addition, two or three volunteers are needed to assist with the registration, t-shirt and food booths between  8:30 and 9:00am.

The coverage area will include all of Hermon and the western side of Bangor. The event is hosted by Maine Cleanup, a citizen initiative group managed by Tim Pellett of Hermon.  Any activity within Bangor city limits is also supported by the City of Bangor and the Bangor Area Stormwater Group as part of their Street to Stream Cleanup events.
